We Hold on Tight

We hold on tight to that we know
It gives us comfort as we grow
From cradle blanket toy or spey
To slippers jumpers that we wear
And as we change through lifes affairs
We sometimes find the comforts there
In strange places sounds or smells
We find some comfort as it tells
The longest tightest bond is made with
Loved ones who are always there
And comfort is their greatest care
The smell of breath the touch of arm
Caressing us avoiding harm
The pushing pulling for whats best
The struggle battle then the rest
The nudging coaxing coaching cry
To be at peace to want to try
When all at once that comforts gone
The lack of smell of touch of song
The yearning to go back and try
To feel it touch it one more time
To hear the humour and the crack
To spit and scratch to get it back
To have the  time that once we had
When will we feel it and be glad
We hold on tight to those we love
It gives us comfort, but then they go
